Myron John Francis born 10.31.1928 in East Providence, RI.

Francis is first generation american of Portuguese Decent. He was born to Antone, Antonio (middle names unknown) Fonseca (Francis given in America) and Maria (middle names many and unknown) Silva (Francis married in America). Father Antone or Antonio from San Miguel, Azores and Mother Maria from Faial, Azores.

Francis is the youngest of twelve all have predecesed him. He is a graduate of E. Providence, RI high school. He then attended Rhode Island College of Education and received a degree in elementary education. He went onto to receive a masters degree in administration from Boston University.

Francis taught in the elementary grades in his hometown of East Providence, RI having coached football and basketball in the area for several years. He then was elevated to Principal in the same East Providence, RI school system in several of the elementary schools. Francis then was elevated again to director of the entire elementary system. Francis was then promoted once more to Superintendent of Schools for the City of East Providence, RI. Francis was a very influencial figure in cultural and educational change in the city during his tenure which ran some thirty-eight years with the E.P. school system. Francis was the father of "Townie Pride" an effort which he developed and spearheaded to promote students to work to better themselves and their community as a whole.

Francis efforts were so great that a school was named after him. The Myron J. Francis School, an elementary school stands today in the Rumford section of East Providence as a testament to his hard work and dedication to the city of East Providence, RI. Might I add a HEAVILY populated city of citizens of portuguese decent.

Francis is a past president of the Portuguese Cultural Society of Rhode Island. As a young man Francis was a past president of the Holy Ghost Brotherhood and a member of many of the other Portuguese benevolent organizations in the East Providence, RI area.

Francis has been married to Barbara M. (Martins) maiden (Pires) Peters Francis for some fity + years.
